The United Way is off and running for another year, hoping to raise $1.5 million dollars by the end of the year.

The Campaign Chair Company is Advanced Realty Solutions, who hosted Friday night’s kick-off event at The Kent in Chatham.

All funds raised through the campaign are invested in programs that address issues in Chatham-Kent.

The agency is using the hashtag #UNIGNORABLE, focusing on community issues like hunger, education, equality, mental health and addiction, and homelessness.

As of September 1st we have hit the ground running so we can reach this 1.5 million dollar goal.”

In fact, they have already banked a quarter of a million dollars from early donations from local businesses like Enbridge, Teksavvy, CM Print, along with several independent donors.

Last year the organization raised $1.56 million for its member agencies.
