CK Will Continue Counting Crows

Crows continue to be a hot button issue in Chatham-Kent, and an issue that won’t be going away any time soon. crow

A report was presented to council last night outlining what has been done in the past to deter birds from the area, but no clear solution was found moving forward.

East Kent representative David VanDamme is disappointed they couldn’t come to a consensus.

“I don’t want to make it a debate about numbers and I don’t want to make it a debate about environmentalists,” VanDamme says. “The issues is damage on the ground, damage to businesses, damages to residents’ areas.”

Some feel that a cull is needed, while others are more concerned about protecting the birds as a large percentage of Canada’s crow population reside in Chatham.
