An arrest has been made after an argument between two women turned violent.

The Chatham-Kent Police Service said officers were called to a disturbance at a residence in Chatham at around 2:20 a.m. on Tuesday. Police officials have not released where in Chatham the incident took place.

Authorities said a verbal disagreement between two women escalated when a 46-year-old Blenheim woman was assaulted. The victim suffered minor injuries but did not require medical treatment.

The other woman was forcibly removed from the residence by other individuals and was arrested later that day.

As a result, a 46-year-old woman from Chatham-Kent is now charged with one count of assault. She was later released with a November court date.
