It’s a good COVID day in Chatham-Kent with no new cases being reported and the total number of active cases holding steady at 17.
The two remaining Chatham-Kent residents who had been hospitalized at the Health Alliance with the virus have now been released, and the hospital’s medicine unit outbreak has officially been declared over.
“Infection Prevention and Control measures will remain in place across the organization and CKHA will continue to review and monitor the impact of the pandemic on our operations,” a CKHA statement reads. “Visitor restrictions will remain in place and only essential care partners are permitted for inpatients at this time; please see CKHA’s website for further details on essential care partners.”
That leaves just the outbreak at Fairfield Park, which as of the last update from the long term care facility, included just two active cases.
Checking around the region, two more people have died from the virus in Windsor-Essex. The public health unit is also reporting 34 new infections.
Lambton County has seven new cases today with 14 recoveries, lowering the active caseload to 65.
And the Ministry of Health is reporting 1138 new cases today, the highest daily count since last weekend. 23 more deaths have been linked to the virus.
