Staff at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance is down to a two-week supply of personal protective equipment including gowns and masks.

President and CEO Lori Marshall says there is great concern with the position the American government has taken, which has cut off some supply.

“We’re not in a crisis situation right now but it does mean that we have to look at proper conservation,” says Marshall. “(We’re) continuing to use everything appropriately and also understand it may be safe to actually do some reprocessing of N95 masks.”

Marshall adds that the province is working with the hospitals across the province in regards to supply of critical needs and the local community has been more than generous.

CKHA will continue to accept donations, particularly the N95 masks.

Marshall says it will take an international effort for supply needs to be completely and truly resolved.

To best help, she encourages residents to continue to take social distancing and isolation requirements very seriously.
