The Chatham Kent Health Alliance’s Igniting Healthcare 50/50 came to a close on Wednesday afternoon with a total of $345,740 raised.
That beat last year’s Igniting Healthcare 50/50 draw, which set the record for Southwestern Ontario’s largest-ever online charitable lottery, by nearly $50,000.
The winning ticket holder will take home $172,870, with an equal amount going to the CKHA Foundation.
Foundation Executive Director Mary Lou Crowley was overwhelmed by the show of support that, in the midst a pandemic, the entire community stood strong for a great cause.
“This community and beyond have come together,” Crowley says. “Our brand new urology program and services, we’re really blessed.”
Most importantly, VP of People and Chief Nursing Executive at CKHA, Lisa Northcott, says proceeds from the 50/50 and recent Foundation golf tournament goes to support the newly returned urology services at CKHA with the purchase of a C-Arm.
“That is a piece of equipment the urologist will use in the operation room and it will be used to assist the urologist in procedures, an example of that would be removal of kidney stones.”
