The fundraising arm of the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance is being recognized as a leader in innovation and collaboration.
The CKHA Foundation has been selected as an official partner for World Engineering Day for Sustainable Development, an International Day proclaimed by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO.)
World Engineering Day is officially marked on March 4, however, the Foundation’s involvement represents a year-long partnership focused on exploring how innovative thinking and cross-sector collaboration can help build stronger, more resilient healthcare systems over time.
Officials say the partnership reflects Foundation’s commitment to strengthening local healthcare through smart, sustainable approaches that improve patient care, support healthcare workers, and promote community well-being.
“As philanthropic engineers, we strive to combine creativity, collaboration, and strategic thinking to design solutions that strengthen our healthcare system and improve the wellbeing of our community,” said Christine Mitchell, CKHAF President & CEO, in a news release. “This partnership gives us a platform to show how these ideas can work locally while being part of a larger, global conversation about sustainability and innovation.”
“Healthcare philanthropy is becoming more complex and increasingly essential,” said Caen Suni, CKHA Vice President of Clinical Programs & Operations. “The challenge now is understanding how all the pieces fit together, and designing solutions that support the system as a whole, not just one part of it.”
CKHAF’s World Engineering Day content will be featured as part of the global campaign throughout 2026.
