CKHA “Ramping Down” Non-Emergency Activity

The Chatham-Kent Health Alliance is ramping down elective procedures and any non-emergency clinical activity.

The move, being made by hospitals across the province as directed by the Ontario Ministry of Health, is aimed at maximizing resources and prioritizing services in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“We are working diligently in our planning process to respond to this directive in a safe and appropriate manner,” CEO Lori Marshall says. “Along with our medical leadership, we are in discussion on how to implement a reduction in elective procedures and non-emergency services through a phased approach.”

Hospital officials are assessing all non-urgent services to determine what can be suspended or deferred for the time being.

“We’re assessing all non-emergency services and clinics in addition to elective surgeries that can be safely suspended or deferred for the time being. Our patients are first and foremost in mind; I want to assure our community these precautionary measures are being carefully planned,” Marshall says.

Meantime, the Cashier Office at CKHA’s Chatham Site will not be open for in-person bill payments.
