CKHA Scaling Back Daily COVID Reports

As cases continue to decline in the community, officials at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance are scaling back on their daily COVID reports.

CEO Lori Marshall says that while the organization is dealing with increased pressure on beds and longer wait times in the ER, those issues are not necessarily caused by COVID-19.

Marshall says while they are always prepared for another surge in COVID patients, precautionary practices, including patient screening, bed assignments, and increased use of PPE have become second nature.

There are only seven patients with the virus at the Health Alliance right now, none of whom are being treated primarily for COVID-19.

Across Ontario today, there are 430 people in hospital with COVID-19, 116 of whom are in intensive care.
