President and CEO Lori Marshall says the organization is posing a question to the public – what does “hospital” mean to you?
“We tried to come up with a question, one question, that we thought everybody would be able to weigh in on and would help us with next steps and design,” Marshall explains. “We’ll be able to take all those responses, pull them together, work with the architects, work with our staff and our physicians and our building committee to try and make that a reality.”

Meantime, the hospital will be submitting its next funding request to the Ministry of Health in December.
CEO Lori Marshall says it’s a detailed report involving the designers, architects, and building committee.
“Our next submission to government really lays out exactly what our plans are, and at that stage we’ll also have some costing information. We’ll have a much better idea about what our plans are anticipated to cost, both in today’s dollars and how much that might escalate.”
The next phase of redevelopment for the Wallaceburg hospital includes a new emergency department, medical beds, diagnostic imaging, and a laboratory.
