Local police had to hustle to catch up with a suspected car thief.
Chatham-Kent Police spotted a vehicle that had been reported stolen on Dufferin Avenue yesterday morning and gave chase, but as soon as the driver passed over the bridge to Walpole Island, the OPP was called in to help.
The driver eventually stopped and took off on foot, but after a short chase the accused was taken into custody.
The 25-year-old Wallaceburg man is charged with theft over $5000, possession of stolen property, and dangerous driving. He’ll have to answer to a judge in court on June 4th.
