CKPS Hosts Training Courses

Chatham-Kent Police played host to officers from across the province for a pair of training courses.

L-R: Lead Instructor Mr. Phil DeBruyne, Const. Marcel Demaiter, S/Sgt Mike Domony and Chief Gary Conn

Critical incident management training was held last week, providing information and techniques on how to handle serious incidents like a hostage situation. Police from Sarnia, Strathroy, and LaSalle joined over a dozen Chatham-Kent officers for the course.

As well,  a professional standards session attracted Police Association officials and supervisors from across the province to learn more about dealing with police complaints and disciplinary matters.

This type of training isn’t typically held in Chatham-Kent, meaning the local force was able to save time and money by not sending officers out of town.
