A Hamilton woman is facing several new charges in connection to a traffic stop in Chatham earlier this summer.

On July 30, officers pulled over a vehicle on King Street East near Adelaide Street South and say the woman behind the wheel presented officers with a Quebec driver’s license that turned out to be fake.

The accused was arrested and a search turned up a valid Ontario license. Officers also spotted a large amount of cash and a set of scales inside the vehicle.

The 21-year-old from Hamilton was arrested and charged with obstruct peace officer, possess forged document with intent and use forged document. She was later released from custody with conditions and a September 6th date in court.

Police then waited for a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act Search warrant for the vehicle, which was granted August 7th.

A subsequent search turned up close to $13,000 worth of cocaine, over $119,000 worth of methamphetamine, roughly $55,000 in fentanyl, cash, digital scales, a prohibited knife, and a gold watch.

A warrant has now been issued for the woman’s arrest, with additional charges including possession of a prohibited weapon and three counts of possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking.

Area residents are warned not to approach or interact with the accused as she may be dangerous. Anyone who spots her is urged to call Chatham-Kent Police at 911 or 519-352-1234, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477.)
