Police are keeping tabs on local train crossings as part of Railway Safety Week.

The national initiative is aimed at raising awareness about the dangers of unsafe behaviour around railway tracks and trains, runs today through September 19.

In partnership with Canadian Pacific Kansas City (CPKC,) Chatham-Kent Police officers will be monitoring railway crossings, engaging with the public, and sharing safety information.

Authorities are urging all residents, drivers, cyclists, and pedestrians, to remain alert and follow the rules when near railway lines. That includes never trespassing on railway properties, only cross at designated railway crossings, and always be alert for trains.
