Boxes of toys are being donated to the Salvation Army thanks to a toy drive held by the Chatham-Kent Police Service.
Constable Renee Cowell says this is their second year collecting toys for kids of all ages.
For the past month we’ve been collecting toys throughout the municipality at our Service Centres,” Cowell says. “Today we donated all the toys to the Salvation Army and they’ll be given to families in need this holiday season.”
Cowell says the force sees the need every day. “We see families in need across Chatham-Kent, so it’s important that our officers participate in events like this and truly help families in need.”
While they don’t have an exact dollar figure for the amount of toys donated, Cowell says it’s about twice as much as last year’s campaign, and they are grateful to the community for the support.
