CK’s COVID Cases Drop

A big drop in Chatham-Kent’s covid numbers over the holiday weekend.

Since the last update on Friday, Public Health has recorded only 3 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 14 resolutions, lowering the total active caseload to 24.

Two local residents who had been hospitalized with the virus have been discharged, leaving a total of 8 COVID-positive patients in care, two of whom are being treated in the ICU.

The outbreak in the Medicine Unit at CKHA has held steady with nine total cases since May 11th.

However, beds at the hospital are filling up. The Health Alliance says ICU occupancy currently sits at 86.4%, up from 60% on Friday. The hospital’s medical, surgical, and critical care beds are 88% filled.
