CK’s COVID Cases Inch Up Again

More Chatham-Kent residents have come down with COVID-19.

Today’s update from Public Health includes 89 high risk cases, raising the seven-day average to 29 new cases a day.

There are three active outbreaks in the municipality, one at the Oaks Retirement Village in Wallaceburg and two at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance – a total of 12 linked cases in the medicine unit and seven in continuing care.

The number of COVID patients at CKHA continues to rise as well, up to 26 admitted as of this morning’s report.

Nine people are being treated primarily for the virus, and one COVID patient is the ICU.

Across Ontario, there are 1090 people hospitalized with COVID-19, 184 of whom are in intensive care.

Meantime, Ontario’s Chief Medical Officer will be making his first public statement this afternoon since mask mandates were lifted a month ago.

Dr. Kieran Moore will be speaking at 1 o’clock, providing an update on the province’s response to the 6th wave of the pandemic and information on expanded access to antivirals.
