CK’s Upward COVID Trend Continues

Another slight uptick in Chatham-Kent’s COVID stats today with six new infections and four recoveries, raising the active caseload to 33.

There are three local residents being treated for the virus at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, one of whom is in the ICU.

Health Minister Christine Elliot is reporting 650 new cases province-wide. 197 people are being treated for COVID-19 in hospitals across Ontario, plus another 135 in intensive care.

Meantime, those in Wallaceburg still looking to get vaccinated will have a chance this weekend.

A mobile clinic is being held at the library on James Street from 1-4 this afternoon, followed by a pop-up clinic at WDSS from 10am to 3pm on Saturday, open to anyone 12 and older.

Public Health walk-ins and booked appointments will both be welcomed.

Two more clinics are planned for Chatham next week at the Salvation Army on Tuesday and Memorial Arena on Thursday.

RideCK is offering free transportation to anyone attending a vaccination clinic throughout the month.
