CK’s Vaccine Rollout Expected To Ramp Up Again Soon

The vaccination efforts in Chatham-Kent are going smoothly, as long as there are vaccines to give.

Now Dr. David Colby, the municipality’s Medical Officer of Health says they will soon be ready to move on to the next group of eligible residents.

“Phase 2 involves immunizing people with specific health risks that might make them more susceptible, as well as counting down the age brackets,” Dr. Colby says. “In Chatham-Kent, we’re currently vaccinating everybody over the age of 70, and when we get that group done, we’ll look at opening it up lower.”

The last group as part of the Phase 2 rollout includes caregivers of those with chronic conditions.

Dr. Colby says they are mobilizing efforts over the next few days to get to people who are housebound and unable to make it to the mass vaccination clinic at the Bradley Convention Centre.
