CK’s Weekly Average Rises to 39 New COVID Cases a Day

Another rise in the number of Chatham-Kent residents dealing with COVID-19.

The latest update from Public Health includes another 93 high risk cases, raising the seven-day average to 39 new cases a day. 

There are now eight active outbreaks across the municipality, including 11 cases linked to Village on the Ridge in Ridgetown. In all, five retirement homes and three group homes are currently in outbreak status. 

There are 24 patients with COVID-19 at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance today, 11 of whom are being treated primarily for the virus. 

Three of those patients are in critical care in the hospital’s progressive care unit. 

Across Ontario, there are 1734 people hospitalized with COVID, 211 being treated in intensive care. 

Officials say hospitalizations are up 16^ in the last week, their highest level since mid-February. 

The province is also reporting another 22 COVID-related deaths across Ontario.
