Clachan Road Bridge To Fully Reopen

After more than nine months, the Clachan Road Bridge in Orford will reopen to traffic and pedestrians this week.

The Municipality of Chatham-Kent said the bridge over the Thames River will reopen at 4 p.m. on Friday.

According to the municipality, the rehabilitation project included the replacement of the bridge’s concrete deck, waterproofing, new asphalt, and new guide rails among other improvements.

The bridge was initially closed for rehabilitation in late February of this year and was expected to reopen at the end of October. However, the bridge contractor, McLean Taylor Construction, was met with labour and material shortages, which delayed the reopening date.
