Cold Records Refuse To Fall

It’s cold, but it’s not record breaking cold.

Peter Kimbell, meteorologist with Environment Canada says no records were broken.

“I looked at the numbers from Ridgetown which is our best site near Wallaceburg and compared it to records and surprisingly, no records were broken, closest was more than a week ago, Jan 21 you hit -24.4, and that was close to a record, Likewise yesterday, no record there either,” says Kimbell. “Yesterday, southwestern Ontario won the prize for coldest part of southern Ontario. Can’t compare to northern Ontario, but quite something.”

Yesterday the mercury dropped to -23.5. the record was -23.9 set in 1908.
