Comber Resident Charged With Drunk Driving

A Comber resident is facing an impaired driving charge after being pulled over on Highway 401 in Chatham.

The Ontario Provincial Police said on Sunday shortly after midnight, the behaviour of a driver behind the wheel of a passenger vehicle prompted an officer to conduct and roadside stop in the westbound lanes of the highway east of Bloomfield Road.

When the driver showed signs of impairment, the officer conducted a roadside screening test. After registering a fail, the driver was arrested and taken to police headquarters for further tests.

As a result, the 29-year-old accused is charged with driving with a blood alcohol level over the legal limit. The Comber resident was also issued a 90 driver’s licence suspension and their vehicle will be impounded for seven days.

The driver will answer the charge in court next month.
