After an initial postponement to a fall date, Community Living Wallaceburg has decided to cancel its 20th Annual Box Lunch fundraiser because of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. This is the first year in the long history of the event that the Agency will be unable to host the important activity.
“In spite of our disappointment in having to cancel the Box Lunch event and celebrating our milestone year, we are looking forward to 2021 and working with our volunteers and sponsors to create an extra special lunch and event, when we’re finally able to celebrate our 20th year” said Deborah Hook, Executive Director of Community Living Wallaceburg.
Every spring, Community Living Wallaceburg looks forward to providing community members and local businesses across Chatham-Kent and Lambton-County a hearty home-made lunch that is delivered directly to the customer’s door. Over the past 20 years, this event has seen a significant growth from just 271 lunches served in 2001, to more than 2,000 in 2019. Last year 100 volunteers, including people supported, past and current employees, friends and family members came together to make, pack and deliver the lunches.
Over the next few days, customers who purchased a meal from our 2020 dates will receive an email or phone call from the Agency regarding the refund process. If you have any other questions or inquiries, we kindly ask you to visit www.clwboxlunch.com or email Shelby at Shelby.Johnston@getintocommunityliving.com.
