Shannon McDowell, a Chatham-native living in Burlington, says the idea for the mural was clear.
“We wanted something that would bring the community together. So the mural needed to represent all the parts of Chatham-Kent and how they came together to build the house for Habitat for Humanity”, explains McDowell.
From there, the mural was divided up into pieces, and distributed around Chatham-Kent as a colour-by-numbers project for local residents to fill in. It’s composed of 27,648 half-inch colour by number squares. These sections were sent to locations in Wallaceburg, Blenheim, Chatham, Pain Court, Ridgetown, and Tilbury for colouring.
The mural has now been pieced back together, and is being put on display near the Blenheim Splash Pad for all to see.
