Conservative Candidate Meet and Greet

Steve Pinsonneault

A local councillor vying for a seat in the Legislature is hoping to rally some support tonight.

Steve Pinsonneault, who is running for the Conservative nomination in Lambton-Kent-Middlesex is holding a meet and greet at the Dresden Legion, starting at 7 o’clock. Pinsonneault, who has held a seat on Chatham-Kent Council since 2006, is hoping to replace former MPP Monte McNaughton, who stepped down in October.

Only members of the Ontario PC party can vote in the riding’s nomination meeting, slated for January 27th. The membership cut-off date is next Monday, January 8th.

The NDP and Liberal parties have yet to announce nomination meetings, nor has the province set a date for a by-election.

As per the Legislative Assembly Act, Premier Doug Ford is required to call a by-election within six months of an MPP position becoming vacant.
