Fire fighters will be paying a visit to residents around Margaret Avenue in Wallaceburg today after a small fire.
Crews were called to an apartment building yesterday after reports of thick smoke coming from one of the units.
Authorities say the occupant had started to cook yesterday morning, but fell asleep.
The tenant was checked out by paramedics – damage was limited to $500.
Today, crews will be speaking to area residents about fire safety planning and ensuring their smoke alarms are working properly.
