With hot and humid weather expected to blanket the region on Wednesday, cooling stations will be reopening across Chatham-Kent.
Environment Canada issued a special weather statement ahead of Wednesday, with the temperature expected to reach 34 C and humidex values getting up to 45 C.
As a result, the Municipality of Chatham-Kent is opening several cooling centres to provide an escape from the heat.
Hope Haven will offer a cooling station at their location at 183 Wellington St W, Chatham, from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m.
In Wallaceburg, the James Street Drop In Centre will also provide a cooling station at their location at 719 James St. from 2 p.m. until 9 p.m.
And Ashley’s Place will offer services and a cooling station at their location at 75 Queen St. N, Tilbury, from 11 a.m to 4 p.m.
As well, municipal offices and public libraries will offer space for people to cool off during regular business hours.
Environment Canada encourages everyone to drink plenty of water and spend more time in a cool place. And never leave people or pets inside a parked vehicle.
