Copper Thief Leaves Costly Repairs Behind

A break-in at a Merritt Avenue compound in Chatham has left a local business-owner with a hefty clean-up bill.

The culprit cut a fence to get into the property early Saturday morning, and tore roughly $50 worth of copper out of a work truck.

However, the damage done to the vehicle has been pegged at $25,000.

Anyone who might be able to help Chatham-Kent Police track down a suspect is asked to call police or Crime Stoppers.
