The mold affects corn and has ravaged farms across the region.
Ridgetown area farmer Sue McLarty says she knows farmers who have had to plough under whole crops.
“It’s tough, and nobody really knows what to do with the corn, because if affects livestock feed and ethanol, and can’t use the byproduct because there’s too much vomitoxin for feed,” says McLarty. “And a tough fall with the weather too.”
McLarty says each year is different, but she’s never seen anything like this.
