Council Awards Services Contract For Homeless Cabin Project

A transitional housing project to support Chatham-Kent’s homeless population continues to move forward.

During a meeting on Monday, Chatham-Kent Council awarded the contract for the site services required for the transitional cabins project to Henry Heyink Construction Ltd. at a cost of $1,085,420.94.

The contractor was selected following a request for proposals process that saw 30 submissions.

The installation of site services will include the electrical system for 50 cabins, which will be installed on vacant municipally-owned property on Park Street near Hyslop Street in Chatham.

The cost of site services is included in the council-approved total estimated capital cost of the project, which is $4,318,676.62.
