Derek Robertson wants council to invest $500,000 over two years to the fundraising committee as it tries to reach its goal of nearly $2,000,000.

The shelter will be a municipally-owned building, operated by the organization which holds Chatham-Kent’s animal control contract – currently the Ontario SPCA.

So far, the committee has raised about $150,000.

The current facility, built in 1974, is in dire need of replacing.
