With the LKDSB currently looking at potentially closing and consolidating schools in south Chatham, Blenheim, Ridgetown and Tilbury, Chatham-Kent Council is being asked to add their two cents.
East Kent representative David VanDamme is dusting off a similar motion that was presented and passed roughly a decade ago in an effort to get council involved in the school consolidation debate.
In the motion, which will be debated on Monday, VanDamme wants council to take a more active role in school board discussions and lobby provincial government members including the Premier and Minister of Education.
In addition to those moves, appoint a municipal liaison to work with the school board and local groups to find non-financial support options and solutions.
