COVD Cases Slip Under 100

Some good news in Friday’s COVID update from Public Health.

Chatham-Kent’s overall active caseload has dipped back into the double digits. 16 new cases are being reported today along with 22 resolutions, lowering the number of active cases to 95.

Meantime, the Public Health Unit has cleared the COVID outbreaks at Lambton Kent Composite in Dresden and Tilbury District High School. That leaves four active school outbreaks, including St Elizabeth School in Wallaceburg which officials now say has grown to five cases, including four students and one staff member.

There are seven COVID patients being treated at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, three of whom live outside the municipality and don’t appear on the daily update from Public Health. Two COVID patients are in the ICU, one of whom is on a ventilator.

Hospital occupancy is on the decline – five of the 10 intensive care beds are filled, while medical, surgical, and critical care occupancy is down to 79.6%.
