COVID-19 Assessment Centre Expanding Eligibility

The COVID-19 Assessment Centre in Chatham-Kent is expanding its eligibility to provide care for those with mild to moderate symptoms.

Clinical staff at the assessment centre will be on hand to conduct an assessment and may offer a COVID-19 test and treatments.

“We are pleased to expand eligibility at the COVID-19 Assessment Centre to offer in-person clinical assessments for those with mild to moderate symptoms of COVID-19, regardless if people have been tested for COVID-19,” said Dr. Briana Yee-Providence, the medical director at the assessment centre, in a news release. “This allows us to intervene early and provide the best course of treatment for individuals in our community.”

An appointment for assessment should be booked if you know or suspect you have COVID-19, you are unable to safely monitor your symptoms at home, or are concerned your symptoms may be worsening. An appointment should also be made if you have been directed to do so by a family doctor or nurse practitioner.

While the province has restricted PCR testing to high-risk individuals and those who work in high-risk settings, you do not need to be eligible in order to attend the assessment centre.

The assessment centre, located at 10 Grand Avenue West in Chatham, is open seven days a week from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Appointments can be booked at www.assessmentbooking.ca or by calling 519-436-2556.
