COVID-19 continues to spread in CK

Yet another Chatham-Kent resident has lost their life to COVID-19.

The latest death is the 86th in the municipality since the pandemic began, and the fourth this month alone.

Between August 7th and the 13th, 115 new cases of COVID were identified, up from 63 the week previous. That raises the seven day average to 16 new high risk cases a day.

Almost half of the new cases appear to stem from an outbreak at Riverview Gardens, with 43 total cases since August 8th. Two other new outbreaks have been declared in the past week, including a group home and Serenity Living in Blenheim. Pubic Health officials are still keeping tabs on outbreaks at the Health Alliance medicine 2 unit and Fairfield Park in Wallaceburg.

Chatham-Kent’s positivity rate has jumped to 15.6%, above the provincial average of 13.3%.
