COVID-19 Risk Remains Low in CK

As more cases of the COVID-19 continue to crop up around the globe, local health officials maintain the risk to area residents is low.

There have been no confirmed cases of the virus in Chatham-Kent, and public health officials say they are continuously monitoring the situation, working with local, provincial, and federal health partners.

However, area residents are urged to do their part in preventing the spread of any respiratory illnesses by washing their hands with soap and water, avoid touching your face, and cough and sneeze into your elbow, not your hands.

For most people, COVID-19 causes only mild or moderate symptoms, including cough and fever.

However for those with weakened immune systems, especially older adults and those with existing health problems, it can be more severe and potentially deadly.
