COVID Assessment Centre Numbers Climb

The focus these days is on vaccination centres in the battle against COVID-19.

However, CKHA President and CEO Lori Marshall says the assessment centre at the St Clair College Healthplex is still doing a brisk business..

“The assessment centre continues to be fairly busy, we’re seeing about 260 people there a day, which really is the highest numbers we’ve seen all through the pandemic.”

Marshall says anytime people feel they should be tested, they should get to the assessment centre.

“It’s those results that allow public health to get on that whole contact tracing very quickly in the event there’s a positive (result.)”

She says that one of the reasons Chatham-Kent has done relatively well through the pandemic is that residents have responded quickly and responsibly.

Some areas, including Windsor, have started scaling back testing at assessment centres and shifting their efforts more to vaccinations.
