COVID Cases Rise Locally and Across Ontario

A spike in new cases of COVID-19 across southwestern Ontario, including Chatham-Kent.

Numbers released this morning include data from the past four days, with 70 new infections being reported along with 44 recoveries since New Year’s Eve.

Two local residents are now being treated for the virus in hospital.

Public Health says there is a new congregate living outbreak, along with two institutional and six workplaces.

Ontario is reporting 3270 new infections today, plus 29 more deaths caused by the virus.

Checking in with neighbouring communities, Lambton County now has 293 active cases, an increase of 65 today.

Windsor-Essex is reporting 202 new infections along with 16 additional deaths.
