COVID Outbreak Declared at CKHA

An outbreak of COVID-19 has been declared at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance.

CKHA officials say five cases of health-care acquired COVID were identified on December 30th on the Chatham hospital’s Medicine A & B Units. CK Public Health has formally declared both units to be in outbreak.

CK Public Health will work closely with CKHA to manage the outbreaks within the Medicine A and B Units and will continue to work in consultation until the outbreaks are declared over.

As part of CKHA’s pandemic response action plan and in alignment with the hospital’s infection prevention and control guidelines, a number of additional initiatives have been implemented in response to the outbreaks on the Medicine A and B Units. CKHA will continue following these measures until CK Public Health rescinds the outbreak order.

CKHA is reminding the community that the hospital remains a safe place to receive care. If you are experiencing an emergent acute care need, please do not hesitate to dial 911 or visit your nearest Emergency Department.
