Hundreds of local residents crowded into the parking lot behind the John D Bradley Convention Centre to welcome the CP Holiday Train.
Along with providing a half-hour show featuring Jim and Devon Cuddy and country singer Kelly Prescott, CP Rail also made a donation of $5,000 to the local food bank.
Outreach for Hunger Executive Director Brenda LeClair says it’s a huge help.
“CP Rail stops and makes a donation to the local food bank in every community that they stop in, which is wonderful,” LeClair says. “We can use that financial support to help buy items that you don’t get in food drives.
It’s been several years since the Holiday Train made a stop in Chatham, and LeClair hopes that the turnout yesterday will encourage them to keep us on the schedule in the years ahead.
