Crash Leads To Impaired Driving Charges

A local man is facing impaired driving charges following a two-vehicle crash in Chatham.

The Ontario Provincial Police said officers came across the collision, which had just occurred at the intersection of Queen Street and Park Avenue, shortly before 9 p.m. on Thursday.

No serious injuries were reported.

One of the drivers who was showing signs of impairment was arrested and taken to police headquarters for tests.

As a result, a 20-year-old Chatham man is now charged with driving while impaired by alcohol and drugs, and driving with a blood alcohol level over the legal limit.

He was also issued a 90-day driver’s licence suspension and his vehicle will be impounded for seven days.

The accused will answer the charges in court in December.
