Crash On 401 Leads To Drunk Driving Charges

A Tilbury man won’t be getting behind the wheel again any time soon following a single-vehicle crash on Highway 401 in Chatham-Kent.

The Ontario Provincial Police said officers responded to the highway near Queens Line in Tilbury after a passenger vehicle entered the centre median at around 2:15 a.m. on Sunday.

No serious injuries were reported

Authorities alleged the driver of the vehicle was showing signs of intoxication and he was arrested without incident. The accused was taken to Chatham-Kent Police Service headquarters for further tests.

As a result, a 52-year-old Tilbury man has been charged with impaired driving and driving with a blood alcohol level over the legal limit. He was also issued a 90-day driver’s licence suspension and the vehicle will be impounded for seven days.
