Crash West of Wheatley Sends Five to Hospital

A two-vehicle collision near Wheatley has sent five people to hospital.

Emergency crews were called to the area of Essex County Roads 37 and 14 shortly before 9 o’clock this morning.

According to Essex OPP, a minivan heading south on County Road 37 missed a stop sign and hit a westbound SUV.

The driver of the van had to be pulled from the vehicle and was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

All four occupants from the SUV were also taken to hospital with injuries ranging from minor to serious.

County Road 14 remains closed between Wheatley Road and Highway 77 as the investigation continues.
