Crawford Stepping Away From Fire Services

The Municipality is looking for a new Fire and Emergency Services Chief.

Fire and EMS Chief Bob Crawford.

Chatham-Kent’s current chief Bob Crawford is set to retire in January, and that means the hunt is on for his replacement.

Community Development General Manager, John Norton says they’ll be accepting applications until September 9th, and hope to have a cross-over period to help train the new chief.

“We’re being proactive because we want a seamless transition for the new chief,” Nortonsaid. “The position is a vital one which includes nearly 400 career and volunteer firefighters as well as oversight of paramedic services.”

Successful candidates will need at least 10 years of fire administration experience.

Crawford first served as Chatham-Kent’s Fire Chief from 2001-2013 before moving into Community Development. He returned to the fire department in 2017.
