A Chatham man’s crime spree is over thanks to an observant Thamesville resident.
The 33-year-old man is wanted in connection to a handful of thefts over the last week.
Police say the man first assaulted a man in downtown Chatham on the 23rd, and stole his laptop.
The victim described the suspect’s vehicle as a white Toyota with Michigan plates.
On the 28th the same SUV was used as the getaway vehicle in a theft from the Foodland in Dresden.
Police say he later that same day broke into a house in Wallaceburg and made off with sixty thousand dollars in camera equipment and jewelry.
On Monday somebody reported a suspicious vehicle in Thamesville. Police responded and arrested the man who they say had some of the stolen jewelry on him.
The vehicle and plate were stolen as well. He’s being held pending a bail hearing.
A second suspect is still at large.
