Crowfest Diving Into Downtown Chatham

Crowfest is returning to the streets of downtown Chatham this week, bringing one of the most high-flying performances in the event’s four-year history.

The festival kicks off on Wednesday and runs through Saturday, featuring the event’s signature buskers from around the world, more than 100 vendors, and activities for all ages.

“This is our fourth year. It keeps getting bigger and bigger,” said event co-chair Andrew Thiel. “Year four is going to be big and fantastic.”

The festival kicks off with the Crow Down, Hoe Down at the Links of Kent on Wednesday at 11 a.m, featuring a live performance by the Deep Southwest. The event then moves to the newly renovated Garden Event Centre on King Street for a performance by an illusionist and comedy hypnotist.

On Thursday, Crowfest will feature CK’s first “Flock and Feud,” a game show experience where teams from the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance will go head-to-head in a Family Feud-style showdown.

The buskers will descend onto King Street beginning on Friday, along with vendors who will be offering everything from local crafts to mouth-watering snacks.

The signature performance for this year is by Milford Entertainment, a diving act from Montreal. The band of performers will take turns diving from heights ranging from eight metres to 25 metres off the ground into a small pool.

“These guys are absolutely fantastic,” said Thiel. “It’s going to be an absolutely amazing show.”

The buskers and vendors will return to downtown Chatham on Saturday, along with a costume contest, art events and the Busk After Dusk afterparty.
