A local family is once again giving back to the Alzheimer Society of Chatham-Kent.
In 2021, Wendy and Mike Fields, members of Wildwood by the Lake, decided to organize a fundraiser that transformed empty bottles and cans into cash to support those living with dementia.
Wendy’s father was a former client of the Society’s Day Program and the motivation behind the fundraiser. Along with their fellow campers from Wildwood Park, Wendy and Mike collected cans and bottles over the spring and summer of 2021, cashing them in and presenting the Alzheimer Society with a donation of $3,552.
This year, they were at it again, raising $4,680.70. That’s over $8,200 in total from recyclables.
A shout-out to staff at the Ridgetown Beer Store, who the Fields say were very pleasant and patient as they always helped out with a smile, no matter how large their load was.
