CT Scan Unveiled

It has taken years of hard work and fundraising, but officials at the Chatham Kent Health Alliance have taken the wraps off the new CT Scan and Suite.

Community and hospital leaders gathered Friday for the ribbon cutting.

Executive Director of the Foundation of CKHA, Mary Lou Crowley, says the hard work was all worth it.

“It’s been a marathon, this past year, bringing the campaign to fruition,” Crowley says. “All 17 pieces of equipment are in motion, our health care professionals are using them day in and day out.”

Along with the new machine, the Health Alliance also still has use of the spec CT scan, so  there’s always a backup available, helping to reduce wait times.

CKHA President and CEO Lori Marshall says the state of the art equipment is not only benefiting patients, it’s also helping with physician recruitment efforts.

“If you think about a physician and why they come to a community, they want to come somewhere where there’s great equipment that helps them diagnose better,” Marshall says. “To know that they basically are going to be in business at all times and will be able to serve patients in a different way in the past, it really makes a difference for us.”
