The 25th Curl for Cancer in Chatham is being hailed a great success.
Canadian Cancer Society spokesperson Darcy Derbecker says the organization is thrilled with the community’s support.
“We are over $6500 and we still have some money rolling in,” says Derbecker.
10 teams took part in this year’s fundraiser at the Granite Club in Chatham.
“I think our best year was $10,000 and that was a few years ago,” says organizer Paul Bowman. “Maybe times are a little tougher now, I appreciate everyone going out and getting a pledge, no mater how much money it is, every little bit helps.”
Proceeds from the bonspiel support cancer research and services, including the Wheels of Hope program, which provides transportation to patients heading to and from treatments and other medical appointments.
